Construction bricks from a demolished fortress in the town of<br \/>\nNov\u00e9 Z\u00e1mky were also used. In 1763 an earthquake turned the Church into ruins. The Church was renewed but later destroyed by artillery<br \/>\nbombing in 1849. In 1860 the Church was rebuilt as it stands today. It resisted some floods; the last flood was in 1965. For the sake of interest,\u00a0there is a displayed chart on the back wall of the church showing the Danube water level as it was in 1895.<\/p>\n<p>In<strong> Podunajsk\u00e9 museum<\/strong>, you can\u00a0find collections dedicated to the town\u2019s history from the primeval age up to the current age including the period depicting the extensive\u00a0earthquake. In the front of the museums\u2019 building, there is a statue of the Hungarian writer <strong>M\u00f3r J\u00f3kai<\/strong> (1825-1904). He was also another famous\u00a0native of Kom\u00e1rno. His work includes the novel \u201eThe Golden Man\u201d of which the plot takes place in Kom\u00e1rno (J\u00f3kai bableves).
